The successive typhoons and the surge in shipping demand have caused long delays for ships in ports along the Asian Pacific coast.

According to meteorological data, Typhoon Poseidon made landfall in southeastern South Korea on September 7. Before that, Typhoon Mesak hit the vicinity of Busan Port on September 3, with wind speeds reaching 100 miles per hour.

Resilience360, a weather tracking and warning platform under DHL, said: "East Asia's supply chain is still facing a series of impacts, from port congestion to factory closures."

"Due to the short interval between the two typhoons, the port has been unable to reduce the backlog of container terminals, and the typhoon "Poseidon" prompted the closure of the port, which further intensified congestion."
Resilience360 pointed out that in the ports of Busan and Gwangyang, ships have experienced five days of waiting time. In China, Shanghai and Ningbo are also dealing with similar congestion problems.

"Before the arrival of Typhoon Poseidon last weekend, the shipping company reported that the waiting time at the Shanghai terminal was 36-48 hours and Ningbo was 24-48 hours. These two ports were closed for at least 24 hours on September 6 and 7. Hour, it may also increase congestion."

Before the Golden Week holiday in October, China's demand for ocean cargo space surged, causing delays in China and Southeast Asia.
