Imports amounted to USD 14.525 billion, a decrease of 4.5% year-on-year. Among them, the import of consumer goods decreased by 19.3% year-on-year. However, imports of intermediate products increased by 3.5% year-on-year, and imports of capital goods increased by 2.8% year-on-year.
Data shows that in the first quarter of this year, Brazil's total exports were US $ 50.095 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 3.7%; total imports were US $ 43.96 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.6%. By comparison, Brazil's foreign trade surplus reached US $ 6.135 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 32%.
