Iraq’s latest mandatory requirements for inbound shipments

The shipping company hapago-lloyd announced that, according to the new Iraqi customs regulations, all shipments to Iraq must comply with the following mandatory requirements and take effect immediately:
Mandatory provisions for Iraqi imports:
1) The actual name of the goods should be indicated on the bill of lading; therefore, “ordinary goods” is unacceptable as a description of the goods. The exact goods/goods should be indicated on the bill of lading.
2) The consignee and the notifying party on the bill of lading shall be the Iraqi side and no foreign party shall be allowed. The consignee must have a valid import license in Iraq.
3) Customs are prohibited from modifying the manifest when berthing at Umm Qasr Port.
