Maersk + Hapag-Lloyd!The "Gemini" alliance officially set sail!

On February 1, the "Gemini" maritime service network, operated by Maersk Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Denmark A.P. Mueller-Maersk, and Hapag-Lloyd AG, Germany, officially began operation.The two sides are committed to building a flexible, interconnected and maritime service network that can achieve a correct shift rate of more than 90% after full use.
The first voyage of the "Gemini" maritime service network began on February 1.Subsequently, the relevant ships will gradually begin sailing according to the new ship schedule as planned.About 340 ships will join the network one after another.

We believe that with the 'Gemini'With innovative design, our customers will receive greater reliability, flexibility and more competitive shipping services.”
The transition period from the original shipping network to "Temini" is expected to last until the end of May.During this period, the relevant ships will join the new network after the implementation of the agreement between Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd and other carriers.Starting from June, the "Gemini" maritime service network will be fully operated, and all relevant ships will sail according to the "Gemini" schedule.
The "Gemini" maritime service network covers the east-west trade channel, consisting of 29 efficient trunk lines and 28 flexible shuttle express lines.
It is understood that in view of the launch of the new collaboration program, Hapag-Lloyd has withdrawn from the THE Alliance on January 31, 2025.Maersk and Mediterranean Shipping have also announced in January 2023 that it will terminate the cooperation between the 2M liner alliance in January 2025.

According to Alphaliner data, Maersk's fleet currently operates 726 ships, including 335 owned ships and 391 chartered ships, with a total capacity of 4.485 million TEU, ranking second in the world with a market share of 14.2%.Hapag-Lloyd's fleet operates 302 ships, including 129 owned ships and 173 chartered ships, with a total capacity of about 2.34 million TEU, ranking fifth in the world with a market share of 7.4%.
