It is reported that due to the breakdown of the contract negotiations, the workers and truck drivers of the main ports in Finland have started strike at 6 am on February 15th local time. The strike affects all ports and docks in the country. It is expected that Finland's foreign trade will be paralyzed and put further pressure on the Finnish economy that has been affected by Russia and Ukraine.

JUHA Anttila, who is responsible for the loading and unions of the Finnish Transportation Industry (AKT), said: "The strike will continue indefinitely until the agreement is completed." Finland's more than 95%of the dock workers are members of the union.

In addition, a few hours before the dock workers began to strike, the truck driver responsible for transporting goods and oil products also started strikes, which will last until February 21.

It is understood that the ports affected by this strike include Helsinki, Hamina-KOTKA, Hanko, Rauma, Turku, KokoKOKKOLA, Naantali, PORI, OULU, and UUSIKAUPUNKI.

According to the AKT Trade Union, the issues of contract negotiations are concentrated on salary and some issues related to working conditions.Finland's loading and unloading workers require salary increases on the grounds of increasing living costs and inflation. In December last year, the inflation rate in Finland was 9.1%.

The mediation officer of the European Labor Bureau has been involved in the negotiations, hoping to find the appropriate collective negotiation agreement terms. The chairman of AKT Trade Union ISMO KOKKO said after withdrawing from the negotiations that the latest proposal is not sufficient in terms of salary increase and other employment conditions.According to the mediator, in the next few days, we will continue to work hard to resolve the dispute. The negotiating parties will start negotiations later this week.

As the unions and truck drivers of almost all dock workers start strike, it is predicted that Finland's foreign trade will actually stop.

Employer's Finnish port operator association (Finnish Port Operators Association) reports that it is expected to cause "major losses" by the strikes. It stated in the statement: "Strikes will stop all ports in Finland. These ports will bear 90%of Finland's foreign trade. Every day on strikes will affect foreign trade worth more than $ 300 million."

The strike affected about 9,000 workers and was criticized by the Trade Association.Mika Aalto, head of the Finnish Chemical Industry Federation, said in a statement: "When major destruction such as strike occur, the loss of confidence, orders and customer loyalty cannot be made up for a long time."

Matski also issued a notice yesterday to remind customers that all ship operations at the port of Finland, as well as the opening of the gate in the dock and the loading of containers, have now been suspended until they will notify them separately.Matsky will notify all customers for the transportation of each of their goods.

Finnish Post and Logistics POSTI issued a notice saying that the Finnish Transportation Workers' Union AKT announced that it would hold a strike in the transportation department from February 15th to 21st.In addition, the postal and logistics union (PAU) has announced that it will support the strike of AKT and take strikes related to trucks and trailers from February 16 to February 21.

Posti said the strike will have an impact on its transportation and dock business and domestic and international delivery. It is estimated that the delivery of parcels, letters and magazines, and international delivery to and from Finland will be delayed for a few days to more than a week. The same estimate is also applicable to freight.

If they cannot be delivered due to strikes, these goods will be properly handled and stored.Delivery related to health and safety has been excluded from strike and support measures, such as delivery (blood and laboratory delivery) and food delivery (schools, kindergartens, institutions, and door -to -door delivery for the elderly).
