Ukraine's National News Agency quoted Facebook's chief of infrastructure minister Vladimir Omeilian on December 20 as saying that the Uzbek government has lowered port tariffs by 20% since January 1, 2018.

He explained that the final government enacted a decree that effective January 1, 2018, the share of net profit surrendered by the Harbor Authority to state finances will be reduced from 75% to 50% and the port tax will be reduced by 20%.

In April this year, the Ministry of Infrastructure proposed to the government to reduce port taxes and fees. In September, the government of Ukraine decided to reduce the charges on port services by 20% from January 1, 2018, including the cost of shipping, river fees, beacon fees, sanitary fees, anchorage fees, terminal fees and port administration fees.

It is understood that Ukraine's main ports are Odessa, Kherson, Nikolayev, Sevastopol and so on. At present, Ukraine's two major ports, Odessa and Iletshevsk, carry 98% of the country's container traffic, usually to Odessa, for transshipment.
